I would like to tell everyone that if they try hard enough, or get emotionally well enough, that one day they will be able to eat intuitively. That they will be able to enjoy one slice of cake and leave the rest. While I do think this is possible for many people, there is a considerable number of us who are addicted to sugar and hyper-processed foods, and are unable to trust our intuition when it comes to certain foods.

One bite leads to a craving for more and more. Just like someone who is addicted to smoking, there is no peace in having one, it just sets up a never-ending want for the next and the next.

Of the many people I have worked with, who find themselves in the nightmarish predicament of being addicted to sugar, the vast majority have found that real freedom only comes when they abstain completely from the foods that light up their brain in an addictive way.
